Product Description
The Universal Drain Plug De-Icer is a 1500-watt thermostatically controlled heater that installs in the drain plug opening of a stock tank to keep water from freezing during winter months. The thermostat runs the unit automatically whenever temperatures drop to freezing - it cycles on and off as needed without any manual adjustment, so water stays open for livestock to drink through cold weather without constant monitoring. The 5.5-foot cord exits out the side of the tank and rests on the ground where animals won't notice it - an important safety detail for installations in active livestock pens.
This drain plug de-icer is best suited for stock tanks of 100 to 300 gallons with a standard drain plug opening. The 1500-watt output is sized to handle the water volume in that tank size range through even the coldest nights in demanding winter climates. The universal drain plug de-icer is a simple, cost-effective way to keep stock tank water available for horses and livestock throughout the winter without adding a floating heater or replacing the tank.
